Eat, Race, Win: What’s New This Week

Your locally curated guide to to the best brand-new eats, events, and hidden gems
[Issue #025 | April 28th, 2025]

Good morning, Vegas. After a weekend that felt like a full sprint—from concerts to car shows to pirate ships—it might be time to slow the pace, at least for a minute. Grab a new meal, catch your breath, and recharge—because the next wave of openings, events, and late nights is already barreling our way. Luckily, this week’s lineup has a little something for every speed.

🏎️ F1 adrenaline now open year-round

Here’s what’s worth your time this week:

Fried Chicken Sandwich from Hencredible

Hencredible
📍 Now Open @ South Rainbow
Hencredible keeps its focus sharp and simple: fried chicken sandwiches built for maximum crunch, furikake-dusted fries, and house-made sauces that actually show some thought. The space is clean and modern, but the real attention stays on the tray in front of you. No gimmicks, no overbuilt menus—just a handful of well-executed essentials that land exactly where they should. In a part of town heavy on copy-paste chains, Hencredible’s local touch feels like a smart—and welcome—addition.

Sen Thai Noodle
📍 Now Open @ Chinatown
Sen Thai Noodle brings a focused slice of Thai street food to Chinatown, offering a tight lineup of noodle dishes, stir-fries, and familiar comforts. Expect rich boat noodles, crisp pad woon sen, and bright, spicy tom yum among the staples—each one built with clear, confident flavors. It's a casual spot with a clear point of view, offering quick, satisfying meals without overcomplicating things. Straightforward, flavorful, and a strong addition to the neighborhood.

Rain on Horizon
📍 Now Open @ Henderson
Rain on Horizon marks the solo debut of veteran chef Sean Jung, whose resume spans icons like Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, and Michel Richard. Tucked just off Horizon Ridge Parkway, the restaurant blends a fresh raw bar with a menu of refined mains—think dry-aged steaks, beef Wellington, and carefully crafted shareables. It's designed as a full dining experience, not a quick stop: polished, confident, and serious about execution. With deep culinary chops behind it and a focus on bold, balanced flavors, Rain on Horizon feels poised to bring something new—and needed—to the Henderson dining scene.

Doberman
📍 Opens April 30 @ Arts District
Doberman feels like the kind of bar Downtown didn’t know it needed. Sophisticated without being stiff, it’s a cocktail lounge that dials up the creativity without losing sight of flavor. Drinks like the Tom Kha Fizz (which I loved during their soft opening) balance spice, acid, and fizz with impressive restraint. The room is dark, dramatic, and somehow still inviting—designed for actual conversations, not just Instagram shots (especially since no photos are allowed), Doberman isn’t shouting for your attention, but it deserves it.

Nocturno
📍 Opens Early May @ Arts District
Still in soft launch, Nocturno is shaping up to bring something new to the Arts District: a Mexico City-inspired cocktail experience with an emphasis on agave spirits and Latin American flavors. Early previews hint at a textured, immersive space—less neon flash, more thoughtful atmosphere. The menu leans deep into spirits like mezcal, raicilla, and sotol, aiming for a cocktail list that feels curated rather than crowded. It’s ambitious, but early signs point to a place that respects both the craft and the culture behind the bottle.

Grand Prix Plaza
📍 Opens May 2 @ The Strip
Grand Prix Plaza isn’t just another retail complex—it’s North America’s first and only official Formula 1 karting experience. The centerpiece is F1 DRIVE, a 1,700-foot electric kart track packed with sharp turns, hairpins, and racing tech usually reserved for the pros. Drivers get real-time coaching from a virtual Race Engineer, with live updates beamed straight to their karts. Off the track, the plaza houses racing simulators, interactive exhibits, a flagship F1 store, and a full-service restaurant. It's a high-octane addition to the Strip—and a chance to feel a little like Verstappen without ever leaving the ground.

Circus Couture RE:imagined
📍 May 1 @ The Theater at Virgin Hotels
One of Vegas' most distinctive fundraisers returns this week as Circus Couture unveils its reimagined format. Known for blending circus performance, fashion, and philanthropy into a single night, this year’s show moves into the sleek Theater at Virgin Hotels with a refreshed lineup of aerialists, designers, and local artists. All proceeds support children facing cancer, but the event itself leans stylish, not somber—think high-wire acts, couture runways, and live music, stitched together with an energy that feels more celebration than ceremony. It's one of those rare Vegas nights where heart and spectacle show up in equal measure.

Pink Gorilla
📍 May 1 @ Chinatown
Seattle's cult-favorite gaming store Pink Gorilla is officially planting a flag in Chinatown, bringing a colorful dose of nostalgia with it. Known for its curated mix of vintage video games, rare imports, plush collectibles, and retro merch, Pink Gorilla isn't just a shop—it’s a full-on love letter to gaming culture. Expect walls lined with Japanese imports, old-school consoles, and plenty of finds you didn’t know you needed. Whether you're hunting for a mint-condition Game Boy or just want to browse something a little weirder than the usual chain stores, this is a very welcome—and very pink—addition to the neighborhood.

Spring Job Fair
📍 May 1 @Las Vegas Convention Center
Nevada’s largest job fair returns this week, bringing more than 15,000 openings to the Las Vegas Convention Center floor. Over 125 employers will be on site, from Strip resorts to healthcare giants to growing tech startups, with many offering interviews on the spot. There’s résumé help if you need it, free childcare if you’re bringing the kids, and an open-door vibe that feels more approachable than formal. Whether you're making a move or just taking a look, it’s the biggest one-day hiring event in the state—and a rare shot to meet recruiters face-to-face instead of through a screen.

Alo Summerlin
ALO Yoga is expanding its Vegas footprint, with a second location in the works at Downtown Summerlin. Known for its upscale athleisure, wellness gear, and Instagram-favorite studios, ALO’s new spot will bring more retail therapy—and likely some yoga classes—to the west side. No official opening date yet, but it’s another sign that Summerlin’s lifestyle cred keeps trending upward.

UNLV Arts Building UNLV
UNLV is pitching a $100 million investment into its College of Fine Arts, aiming to create a new hub for performance, education, and public exhibitions. The proposal includes state-of-the-art theaters, rehearsal spaces, and studios designed to boost the school’s national profile—and give Las Vegas a bigger stage for homegrown talent. Funding still needs final approval, but the project signals a serious bet on the city's creative future.

Wheel of Fortune LIVE!
📍 July 19 @Paris Theater
One of America’s most iconic game shows is spinning its way onto the Vegas stage this summer. Wheel of Fortune LIVE! brings the puzzles, prizes, and oversized wheel to the Paris Theater for a one-night-only event where audience members get the chance to play. It’s not a TV taping—it’s a full interactive experience, designed to make you the contestant. If you’ve ever yelled at your screen from the couch, now’s your shot to see if you can do any better under the lights.

Stevie Nicks
📍 Oct 11 @ T-Mobile Arena
The legendary Stevie Nicks returns to Las Vegas this fall for a night of ethereal vocals, deep cuts, and timeless anthems. With a career that spans Fleetwood Mac classics and a solo catalog of stormy ballads and sharp-edged rock, Nicks remains one of the most iconic voices in American music. Expect a set that moves from mystical to fierce, with that unmistakable rasp tying it all together. She's a living legend—and in Vegas, legends always play a little louder.

Cody Jinks
📍 Dec 12-13 @ The Cosmopolitan
Country outlaw Cody Jinks brings his raw, no-frills sound back to The Cosmopolitan for a two-night stand this December. Known for his gravel-edged voice and fiercely independent spirit, Jinks pulls from honky-tonk tradition without falling into cliché. Expect a set heavy on fan favorites like "Loud and Heavy" and "Hippies and Cowboys," delivered with the kind of grit Vegas rarely gets to hear live. If polished pop-country isn’t your thing, this is the antidote.

Been meaning to Far Side Pizza in person, but just hadn't had the time to drive over so i door dashed this sweet puppy straight to my homestead today. Best decision i've made in a coon's age.

I'm usually not a big fan of Latin food but Chica was very good.

Started off with empanadas which were ok and then had the 10 ounce skirt steak with garlic mole which was delicious!

The waiter was on the ball constantly checking on us and making sure we were enjoying our time
