Your locally curated guide to to the best brand-new eats, events, and hidden gems
[Issue #015 | March 24th, 2025]

Good morning, Vegas! It’s spring, somehow. The city’s buzzing with people, the Strip’s busy with conferences, and locals are doing what we do—finding the good stuff on the edges. This week’s got a little of everything.
🍛 Island favorites expand in the southwest
🍕 Pizza lovers and do-gooders unite
🏮 A peek at the future of Chinatown
Here’s what’s worth your time this week:

Zippy’s | Grand Opening March 25th
📍 7095 Badura Ave (Spring Valley)
Zippy’s second Vegas location opens next week, and if the first one taught us anything—it’s that people show up early. The new spot brings the same comfort food lineup: loco mocos, chili spaghetti, fried chicken, and baked goods like malasadas and Dobash cake. There’s counter service, dine-in seating, and a separate bakery area if you’re just swinging through. Doors open at 10 a.m., but the opening ceremony kicks off with cultural performances at 9:30.
Halgatteok | Now Open
📍 2570 S Decatur Blvd (Chinatown)
Originally tucked inside Cheongdam Food Hall, Halgatteok now has its own storefront. They focus on tteok—Korean rice cakes with a chewy bite and endless variety. Sweet, spicy, fried, or skewered, they’ve got something for snackers and heat-lovers alike. It’s a fun, low-key place to try something new if you’re already exploring Chinatown.
Frank and Fina’s Cocina | Now Open
📍 3100 S Durango Dr (Spring Valley)
After closing last summer, Frank & Fina’s has officially reopened in a new Spring Valley location. It’s still the same family-owned restaurant locals know and love—hearty combo plates, strong margaritas, and a friendly, welcoming vibe. If your weekend doesn’t feel complete without chilaquiles or chile verde, this place belongs back in your rotation.
The Pho Spot | Now Open
📍 7995 Blue Diamond Rd (Enterprise)
This new Vietnamese spot in the southwest keeps things simple—aromatic broths, fresh herbs, and a cozy interior with no distractions. The focus is on doing the classics really well, especially their namesake pho. Ideal for those “I need something warm and flavorful” moments without a long drive or long wait.
Wahlburgers @ Ayu Dayclub | Now Open
📍 3000 S Las Vegas Blvd (Resorts World)
Wahlburgers is now slinging burgers poolside at Resorts World. It’s a breezy, no-fuss way to grab lunch between shows, swims, or strolls along the Strip. Think classic burgers, crispy fries, and drinks that don’t take themselves too seriously.

Slice Out Hunger Pizza Tailgate & SOH at Ciao Vino | March 24 & March 26
📍 March 24 at 201 N 3rd St (Pizza Rock Downtown)
📍 March 26 at 740 S Rampart Blvd (Ciao Vino)
If you're even a little bit pizza-obsessed, this one’s worth circling. Slice Out Hunger is hosting two public events during Pizza Expo week, raising money for local food charities while serving slices from some of the best pizza makers in the country. The tailgate on March 24 will be a full-blown outdoor pizza party at Pizza Rock Downtown, and on March 26, things shift to a more intimate slice and sip session at Ciao Vino. Great food, great cause.
Bar & Restaurant Expo | March 24-26
📍 3150 Paradise Rd (Las Vegas Convention Center)
This week, the people who feed and serve Las Vegas gather for one of the biggest hospitality expos in the country. Thousands of chefs, bartenders, owners, and vendors will be sharing ideas, sampling new products, and shaping what Vegas hospitality looks like next. It’s industry-only, but it affects everyone—what gets talked about here often ends up on your plate or in your glass later.
Texas Take Over @ Evel Pie | March 27th
📍 508 E Fremont St (Evel Pie)
Four Texas metal bands and one bacon–pineapple–jalapeño pizza walk into Evel Pie… That’s the setup for this Thursday’s free, all-ages show featuring Cerebral Desecration, Chironex, Dreadland, and Vegas-based Tyrantula. Loud, sweaty, beer-soaked fun in a place where pizza and punk go hand in hand.
Radiance @ Tivoli Village | Until April 30th.
📍 400 S Rampart Blvd (Tivoli Village)
If your week could use a little mental reset, Radiance might be the move. It’s a calming walk-through light show—more art installation than thrill ride. Think ambient music, glowing shapes, and immersive visuals across 25,000 square feet. It’s good for a mellow night out, a family outing, or a date that doesn’t involve yelling over dinner.

Chinatown Remodel – 2025+
With the massive Chinatown expansion well underway, we have a new batch of restaurants gearing up to join the scene this year. Shoo Loong Hotpot is finally making progress inside Chinatown Plaza, with remodeling underway and a spring opening on the horizon. Shin-Sen-Gumi Yakitori, a cult-favorite from California, is bringing its beloved skewers to town, while Sen Thai Noodle is prepping to open on Arville with comfort bowls and bold flavors. Dim sum lovers should keep an eye on Sea Harbour Seafood by Chef Tony—his high-end Cantonese style is headed for a prime spot on Spring Mountain. There are still a few wildcards in the mix too, like KROK and VT Mania, both of which are light on details but sound promising. And Pho Saigonese, taking over the old Lamoon space, is aiming to open this spring after missing its January window.
Filipino Town – 2025
Clark County could soon have its own officially designated “Filipino Town.” Commissioners are set to vote next month on a proposal that would recognize the area along east Desert Inn Road as a cultural hub for the local Filipino community. The stretch—home to dozens of Filipino-owned restaurants, businesses, and community centers—has long served as an unofficial gathering place. Supporters say the designation would help preserve Filipino heritage in Las Vegas and promote tourism and cultural events. If approved, it would be the first officially recognized Filipino district in the county.

We recently visited The Guest House at Town Square for a birthday celebration, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! The private room we were in was absolutely amazing--beautifully designed, spacious, and perfect for an intimate gathering.
Thep Phanom had outstanding food and service. Great to have such a wonderful Thai restaurant this close to home. Had the drunken noodle dish with beef and it was very tasty. Food was fresh and came out quickly. Try this place out you won't be disappointed
